The Self-Study MBA vs. Ivy League MBA programs: Superior Course Structure

Before we even attempt to discuss this comparison and contrast, let’s try to understand - What’s an MBA?

Is it ‘Master of Business Administration’ or ‘Master of Bad Activities’?

Well, if you thought that’s a rather stupid question, think again. Some, if not most, MBA programs make you just that, a ‘Master of Bad Activities’. Hence, it’s important for you, from the options available to you, to choose the right MBA program for yourself. For indeed, most MBA programs teach many worthless, outdated, and even outright damaging concepts and practices.

For our part, we’ve eliminated all such unnecessary topics from The Self-Study MBA, while focussing on things that are of value and benefit to us.

It’s also important for us to highlight the course structure of a typical MBA program, and compare it with The Self-Study MBA?

A typical MBA course structure consists of Core, Electives, Capstone, and Common Specializations/Concentrations.

It’d be perhaps easier for us to assimilate the course contents if we present it in the form of a table.

MBA Course Structure
Core
Analytical
accounting, managerial economics, operations research, organizational behavior, economic policy, and business statistics/quantitative analysis
Functional
financial management, human resource management, marketing management, and operations management
Ethics
business ethics, corporate social responsibility, or corporate governance
Electives
Common broad electives include: entrepreneurship, international business, management information systems, business law, market research, organizational design, negotiations, international finance, project management, managing non-profits, and real estate investing. Additionally, many other elective options of a more specialized nature are offered by various institutions.
Capstone
Strategy
strategic management, business leadership
Research
research methodology, dissertation/ major project
Common Specializations
/
Concentrations
accounting, entrepreneurship, finance (including corporate finance and investment management), international business, healthcare administration, human resources, management information systems, management science, marketing, operations management, organizational design, project management, real estate, risk management and strategy, among others.

We not only cover these topics, but also much more. Also, we include many Original Topics and Hybrid Topics, which you’ll not come across in even elite MBA programs.

Equally important is the fact, that we eliminate all wrong concepts.
